*Dravid was the 2nd cricketer to cross 13,000 test runs mark.
*Has been involved in the most century partnerships in Test history - 85.
*Scored nearly 23% of the total runs put up by India (with a batting average of 102.84) in the 21 Test matches won under Ganguly's captaincy. This is the highest percentage contribution by any batsman in Test cricket history in matches won under a single captain where the captain has won more than 20 Tests.
*2nd longest streak of consecutive Tests since debut (93 + 1 in ICC XI) missed 95th test at Ahmedabad due to fever, behind Adam Gilchrist (96).

*He is currently 2nd among batsmen who have scored most away runs in Tests (6430 as of April 2009). Only Sachin Tendulkar (7165) has scored more away Test runs.
*He has played 150 innings of 94 tests at number 3. He has scored more than 8000 runs at this position. Both feats are world records.
*2nd Indian batsman to score twin hundreds in a Test twice, after Sunil Gavaskar. Gavaskar and Ponting are the only batsmen to score twin hundreds in a Test thrice.
*One of only three Indians to score 5 double hundreds.(each bigger than the previous 200* vs Zimbabwe, 217 vs England, 222 vs New Zealand, 233 vs Australia, 270 vs Pakistan). In fact, along with Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar, he is one of only three Indians to score 190+ on seven occasions.
*Partnering with Tendulkar, has scored more runs than any other pair, excluding opening pairs. They are the 3rd best in terms of total number of partnership runs scored by a pair in test cricket.
*Dravid has faced highest number of deliveries in test cricket, 31258 to be precise.
*2nd highest number of fifties in test cricket after (63).

ReplyDeletethanks for sharing Rahul'greatness.i wonder howmany of us realize that he is truelly the one cricketer for india who doesn't care about himself.i don't know if anybody could have refused the captaincy at that time and these stupid dhony and all they think he is not good enough for ODIs why not because he forgets that howmany he has got for himself before taking risk for india which Dhony never even if he is batting with Harbhajan and tailenders if he hasn't got a 40 he will not get out.anyway who wants your wicket in ODI if you are not playing for a win.i can't stop myself hurting seeing the position of dhony and rahul in indian cricket.

ReplyDeleteSports help us develop Attitude.
ReplyDeleteMany innings composed (yes this RD composes innings) have actualy ended up composing a victory when the team had its back to the wall.
RD's batting demonstrates application of defensive techniques and abundant patience to wait for the right delivery to smack eventually putting the team in an aggressive position(defensively).
The Defensive RD Dares to take any risk in team's interest. best eg. Possibly only RD would have agreed to keep wickets in a World Cup tournament enablng team to accomodate one more batsman. Most accomplished batsman would have refused an additional role and what more critics and fans would have supported the deciscion.
India reached the finals of that world cup without plating a regular wicketkeeper thus making room for an additional batsman.
Salute to yet another composition by RD at the Eden Garden on 14/11/11.
RD already is a role model. And not just for young and upcomming cricketers.
Infact any youngster aspiring to take up any sport must emulate The Atittude of This Wall!

rahul dravid is the emperor of the cricket world. sachin is oly king but rahul dravid is the ever great emperor of the cricket world. he faced the highest number of deliveries in cricket historyy. the real meaning of cricket is to face and play balls with out getting out. in that reason also he is the all time greattttt.he is the legend of the legends and the real legend of cricket. he bought a complete meaning to the name cricket. cricketers like vivian richards, bian lara, sachin tendulkar, kapil dev are also students of the geart rahul dravid batting technique. they stands only next to rahul dravid. he create a record in making records. in cricket rahul dravid is only one and any one cannot even stand beside him. he is ever greatttttttttttttttttttttttttt.

Rahul Dravid ( मराठी : राहुल शरद द्रविड ); (born 11 January 1973) is a former Indian cricketer, who captained the national Test and One Day International (ODI) teams. Born in a Marathi family, he started playing cricket at the age of 12 and later represented the state team at the under-15, under-17 and under-19 levels. Hailed as The Wall, Dravid has been described as one of the greatest batsmen in the history of cricket.[1][2][3] He was named one of the best five cricketers of the year by Wisden Cricketers' Almanack in 2000 and received the Player of the Year and the Test Player of the Year awards at the inaugural ICC awards ceremony in 2004.[4][5] In December 2011, he became the first non-Australian cricketer to address at the Bradman Oration in Canberra.[6]
ReplyDeleteAs of October 2012, Dravid is the third-highest run scorer in Test cricket, after Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting, and is only the second Indian cricketer, after Tendulkar to score 10,000 runs both in Tests and in ODIs.[7][8] Wisden ranked him the third greatest Test batsman of all time, after Don Bradman and Tendulkar. In April 2009, he became the only player to score a century in all the ten Test-playing countries.[9] As of October 2012, he holds the record for the most number of catches taken by a player (non-wicket-keeper) in Test cricket, with 210.[10]
In August 2011, after receiving a surprise call in the ODI series against England, Dravid declared his retirement from ODIs as well as Twenty20 International (T20I), and in March 2012, he announced his retirement from international and first-class cricket. He appeared in the 2012 Indian Premier League as captain of the Rajasthan Royals.[11]
Rahul Dravid, along with Glenn McGrath were honoured during the seventh annual Bradman Awards function in Sydney on 1 November 2012.[12] Dravid has also been honoured with the Padma Bhushan award, India's third highest civilian award.[13]
Word can not Describe Rahul Dravid (THE WALL).......Anybody can take Place of Sachin but Nobady in India next 10-15 Years Replace Rahul Dravid...Hats Off....
